Message from James Watts, VP for Human Resources, KFC UK and Ireland
At KFC we have a vision: for every one of our restaurants to be a training centre, where people can develop their skills, earn qualifications and take an alternative route into higher education. Youth unemployment is a major problem in the UK and Ireland, and as a large employer we recognise that the training and education we provide has the potential to transform thousands of young lives.
Our investment isn’t only in younger employees. We want to be considered the best company in the UK for training and education and known as a great place to work. And as a result, we want KFC UK and Ireland to be the greatest source of talent for our parent company Yum!
We are well on our way to making our vision a reality. KFC won the Top Employer Award from the Top Employers Institute in Britain in 2012, 2013 and recently in 2014, becoming the first company to win the accolade two years and now three years running. The award highlighted our commitment to training and career development, as well as our fun and friendly company culture. In 2013, we also appeared in the Top 25 UK Best Workplaces list for the fourth year in a row.
