Restaurant Food Safety
Nothing is more important to us than protecting our customers and our reputation by ensuring our food is tasty and safe to eat. We must be constantly aware of, and able to respond to, potential health and safety issues related to the food we serve. Our food safety policies and procedures are implemented at all restaurants to ensure the food we produce is safe to eat.
Yum!’s (our parent company) Global Food Safety Council oversees our food safety standards and regulatory compliance globally and shares best practices across divisions. Its work ensures we continuously improve our food safety practices and minimise the risk of future safety issues from ingredients or the running of our restaurants. Yum!'s Chief Operations Officer heads up the council, and other members include senior food safety, quality and compliance leaders from all divisions.
The UK Food Standards Agency, in partnership with local authorities, has rolled out a national Food Rating Scheme in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and a Food Hygiene Information Scheme in Scotland. The scheme encourages businesses to improve hygiene standards and reduce the incidence of foodborne illness and helps customers choose where to eat out or shop for food by providing information about each premise’s hygiene standards. As part of our commitment to food safety, we aim to achieve a rating of at least four (out of five) for all our restaurants in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and pass in all our restaurants in Scotland – where a slightly different system applies. Achieving these ratings demonstrates a good standard of food hygiene within the restaurant. Over 93% of our restaurants have already achieved this standard.
