For KFC UK and Ireland, establishing positive relationships with regulators is hugely important. In 2011, we established a Primary Authority Partnership with Woking Borough Council, covering food safety and health and safety. The agreement has been extended to allow franchise partners to opt in. The Primary Authority relationship provides a single point of contact for regulatory matters, and robust and reliable advice that other councils can take into account when carrying out inspections or dealing with possible non-compliance within our restaurants. It is one of the most effective ways for us to improve protection and take a consistent approach to food safety.

We are also a member of business forums operated by the Health and Safety Executive, British Retail Consortium and Food Standards Agency. These forums enable us and other businesses in our sector to respond to government consultations and influence future government focus, legislation and guidance.
